Hello All,

I’m doing a post similar to my last post as I’ve kept looking around, but am still confused and am looking for advice on the transfer process.

Rather than a long paragraph I’ll describe some of my most noticeable information.

Student At: Northern Virginia Community College
Studying: Computer Science
GPA: 3.604
Sadly I took a math online course MTH 173: Calculus I with Analytic and obtained a C.
I was born in a foreign country.
I’m currently working on an internship for a major corporation.

I doubt the last two will help me with my transfer process, but someone brought to my attention diversity might help me.

So onto my confusion…

I’m now in my second year, but still haven’t completed my A.S in computer science. This was mostly because during my first year I was completing NOVA’s required course and then decided I wanted to attend UVA and had to complete their required courses. But my calculus grade has probably killed my chance of getting there. I’ve tried working with my college counselor on what’s my best option now, but I never get accurate information. It’s as if he wants me to stay at the community college for a longer period of time. This is my reason for coming to the forum.

It seems I’ll have to stay an extra semester to be able to complete my A.S. I figured this out during the fall period and I though an extra year wouldn’t be a problem, but now my mind has totally switched to completing my degree in the least possible time. However I believe this means sacrificing going to reputable school. I’m not sure of what to do as I have multiple constraints that are my low grade in calculus, and if I’m not confused I no longer have time to transfer in the fall to any school and almost no schools accept transfer in the spring.

So what is my best choice? I really wanted to stay near home, but I guess I should consider universities (hopefully reputable) outside of Virginia. I’m just scared of how I’ll pay for school and for living out of state.

Sorry if this is asked many times here (including my previous post), as I’ve clearly seen while doing the research. I’m just a bit stressed on what to do here and haven’t even been able to focus on schoolwork.

Thanks for any advice and even criticism I can get.
