B.F.A. Tech programs within a few hours of Washington, DC

I’m trying to put together a list of schools to see that are under 3 hours from DC (home),

Here’s what I have so far (in approximate order of distance)

Howard University
George Mason University
Shenandoah University
James Madison University
Virginia Commonwealth University
University of the Arts
West Virginia University

Are there any B.F.A. programs that I’m missing?

Does anyone have any strong feelings for/against any of those schools? I’m particularly interested in Howard, because I feel as though I hear nothing about it. Does anyone have any experience with Howard in particular?

Towson in MD, I believe has a BFA
James Madison is a BA with a concentration in Design and Technology, with lots of opportunities for student designers.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, Towson’s B.F.A. is only acting. Their Design/Tech program is a B.A…

Ah… I worked with a great TD who had gone to Towson, and I knew they had BFA Performance, so I was not sure.

I would not discount a BA out of hand. Look at the curriculum and opportunities, ask questions of the faculty, current students, and alums if possible.

When you graduate it is your skills and training that will matter, not the kind of degree program.

I believe that Longwood in VA has a BFA.

I would add Maryland Baltimore County to your list.

UMBC doesn’t have a B.F.A., just a B.A… Well definitely look, but he’s pretty focused on B.F.A. options.
