I just finished freshman year spring semester and I got a 'B' in a 300 level genetics class. I was wondering if this will dramatically hurt my medical school chances since I know they focus on your biology classes when reviewing your application. I AP'd out of Gen BIO 1 and 2 and got an A- first semester in a 200 level Gen BIO 3 class.

obviously As are better than Bs but to say it dramatically hurt your chances would be overly dramatic (pun intended)

That’s 3.5 sGPA right there You will be fine. As IWBB said, get more As in other classes.

I got a C+ and multiple B’s throughout my undergrad career and was still able to get accepted to a really good medical school.

A B in any one course won’t mean anything. Grades and the mcat will help in getting interviews but based on D’s experience, interviewed at Ivy League schools and got immediate rejections from schools ranked below 50- no rhyme or reason in this process
