"B" in a Religion course...

Hello everyone,

Getting straight to the point, I go to a Catholic high school, and ended up getting a 'B' in a religion course. Ultimately, the service reflection paper (worth 33% of the class grade) which I turned in, was not 'reflective' enough, so, unfortunately, I am finishing the class with a 'B'.

My question is, since I have an 'A' in every other course that I have taken in my high school career (I'm currently a Junior with 5 APs and 9 honors courses), will any of the schools that I am applying to see that religion grade in a GPA, or take it into account?

I understand that most school have a separate academic GPA for admissions, but is that grade ignored on the transcript, or will it harm (even ever so slightly) my chances of admission? (I am applying to the top schools, naturally...)

All responses are greatly appreciated.

Lol. There are some schools that place more emphasis on your core GPA. Nonetheless, 1 B is completely fine… 1 B will not change your chance of being accepted from any very selective school, its really not something to worry about at all.

I guess it could reduce your chance by .01%. But a 3.98 is hardly any different from 4.0.

I say this to all threads like this. A B or two or maybe three does not exclude you from HYP. A C or two does not exclude you from HYP.
Trust me, no school (Harvard and Stanford included) will reject you for one or two Cs or Bs if your other grades are stellar.

One B will not keep you out any more than straight A’s will get you in.

^^ That statement needs to be plastered all over CC.

@KKmama‌ omg yes! people need to realize this.

Many schools recalculate GPA to include only 5 core subjects: Math, Science, English, Foreign Language and Social Studies. Is probable that it will be taken with a grain of salt.
