hi guys
last year as a freshman I got a bit ambitious and took AP Biology(a class usually reserved for juniors/seniors at my school). However, I found it very tough and I got a B last year(all my other grades were A's last year). However, I can basically guarantee straight A's in the rest of my math/science classes since I've always been strong in math(in calc. BC right now), and I'm much better at chem. and physics. How bad will my B in AP biology kill my chances?
any input is appreciated!

How did you do on the AP test? I’d say that a “B” as a freshman, in and of itself, won’t hurt your chances.

OperaDad,
Thanks for responding! I only got a 4 on the AP test last year, but I will definitely retake it this year.

…why would you retake it? You can get credit for it at most schools with a 4. Besides, Caltech doesn’t even accept any AP scores for credit.

For the record: A “B” and a “4” is great as a freshmen. However, you are competing against a highly competitive pool. Up your game (like you plan to), and you will be fine. I don’t know if retaking the test will do much for you, but it can’t hurt (as long as you get the 5).

I have the same problem. I have a B and I work hard like I read the book, look at the prep book, take lecture notes, and practice AP questions. But, in the quizzes she puts AP like questions and because of that I always get a freaking B. I understand the material as well. Or even when there aren’t AP questions , and it is driving me insane. Like , to college admissions people this is supposed to be an easy class if I’m getting a B in this class how will I do in college if I want to be a doctor.
