I only got a 93% in intro bio so I retook it and got 94%. Well worth it.

^^^ Is that sarcastic?

thanks,

so, do we have to retake in our home institutions? and i heard that med school will recalculate our gpa and take any "retaking" into account? do you know how do they do that?

thanks again!

I think norcal guy is teh seriousssss

Please tell me you're joking, piaoyuelingxing.

?????????????

This post is starting to scare me...

norcalguy, I thought a 93 and a 94 were the same grade (A)? Does your school grade on a different scale?

Note to self: Never use sarcasm again. Neurotic premeds will believe anything.

No kidding, NCG...

Everyone needs to realize that the overwhelming majority of schools won't let you retake a class unless your grade ends up below what would be considered a "fail" if you were taking it pass/fail. At places with a +/- grading system, that's usually a C- for the possibility of a retake.

The other thing is, retaking classes unless the grade is super low is usually a no-win situation. If you take it again and get an A, the feeling is "well of course they got an A the second time". If you get a B then the sentiment could very well be "how dumb is this kid? They couldn't get an A, even on the second time around?". This lack of a positive outcome makes me hesitant to recommend retaking a class even for a C-. Only once you start getting into the D range, the balance shifts towards retaking to a sufficient extent that retaking is clearly correct choice.

Hahah, hilarious.

Haha, I feel you norcalguy!

Wait, are you saying that you used sarcasm in this thread or in another? I'm confused. So should I still retake my A-'s?

You guys do realize that on the verbal section of the MCAT you'll have to sense the author's tone in his writing, right? Often, to decide whether or not the author is being serious, you'll have to use common sense, which is taking a serious hit in this thread.

In which case you fail. Although, it would have been a tough question on the MCAT. Verrrrrrrrrrry subtle :)

Anyways, the best type of sarcasm is the kind that is borderline and might actually be sincere.

Alright I am done... /sleep
