Hi everyone,

I am in the 10th grade and I was wondering whether it would be better to get a B in Trig/Pre-calc honors or drop down to regular and get an A?

Thanks a lot.

Hi everyone,

I am in the 10th grade and I was wondering whether it would be better to get a B in Trig/Pre-calc honors or drop down to regular and get an A?

Thanks a lot.

Most adcoms would say "well you need to get an A in the honors, but a B in honors + good recs shows you're trying more than an A in regular."

Honestly, do your best and push yourself.

Get an A in Trig/Pre-calc honors...

i'm gonna say try harder and get an A in precalc honors. U might think it's hopeless but u never know until actually put urself into it.

The sad truth is that you really do need to get an A in the honors class.

he doesn't necessarily need an A...it depends on the colleges he's looking at. Strong SAT's and B's are perfectly fine for most state colleges, but Harvard may look down on you. It just depends on what you're looking for.

I'm just saying that this is my only B so far in highschool. I have a 4.85 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted GPA so far and all the classes which I have taken save Japanese (no honors offered) have been honors. Also I am taking AP Chem and AP Psychology as a sophmore. So is a "B" in one semester of one class eliminate you from admissions to the Ivy league schools?

no, it wont eliminate you from contention. More B's make it harder, but if you're good in the other respects it will by no means eliminate you.

one B isn't going to hurt you. I think it is better to take a B then dropping down to regular in the middle of the year. YOu can tak eregula next year if you are struggling.

stay in honors.
It makes you feel better, more accomplished.

Honors and regular courses are basically the same thing, except one will just skip unneeded chapters (the really really pointless stuff). Going regular doesnt really save you work in a math class.

Now AP vs Honors thats a whole nother story.

lol, im a fallen english dude, i used to be in honors english, and did fine in it too. but being a senior with senioritis, i decided to take regulars this year, and the difference between honors and regulars is a huge chasm. colleges will definitely prefer B in honors.

GPA is king...so A in reg

Definately whichever plays better in terms of rank and "standing out" from your peers.
