B in Senior Year

Yeah, I know this is commonly asked but please hear me out.

I just received my midyear grades and I ended up getting a B in one of my AP classes. The rest of them are A’s. The problem is that the B was in my AP computer science class which also happens to be my applied major. Most of my application contains CS related stuff (EC’s) and i’m worried that they might see this as a bad thing (doing mostly CS related stuff, yet unable to excel in the class). It’s the school’s first year having the class and the teacher is, to say the least, not very good. His grading scale is ridiculous and he practically hands out A’s at random. Should I ask to have a note added describing this? Should I be concerned? My GPA is already bad as it is and I don’t want to get screwed even more since i’m applying to some really competitive schools.

Oh and sorry if I sound paranoid. I’ve gotten at least 4-5 B’s over my high school career… I don’t want to tip the scale.

No. Your explanation here comes off as defensive and finger-pointing. I doubt that any note you add will be much different.

Your acceptance or rejection to the school of your choice will not be based upon getting one B in APCS. Good luck.

@skieurope‌ Thanks! I probably could have worded that better. I wasn’t going to blame his poor grading methods, but instead wanted to mention the nature of the class and a possible reason that I couldn’t perform as well. However that too is kind of finger-pointing.

Thank you! I hope you’re right, which you probably are, but I somehow feel like my B’s are stacking up pretty hard LOL.

skieurope is right. Whatever happens isn’t going to be because of one B in comp sci, even if that was the subject you indicated interest in.

Thirding @skieurope.
