Are you or your s/d steering clear of these programs? Or are you willing to run the risk of auditioning in your sophomore year and possibly not getting in? Would you leave the school and go elsewhere?

My D steered clear of these type of programs because she figured if she was going to go through this whole audition process senior year she did not want to do it again once she was in college. She wanted to know she was in a program. She also steered clear of the cut programs. It’s one thing to have evaluations but another if the program cuts down to a certain number

Can I just say that I discussed this with kids at Point Park and they did not feel there was such a distinction based on who was in or out of the BFA vs the BA. The BA kids can take exactly the same classes as the BFA kids or they can choose to divert from the BFA protocol and design their own performing arts program out of all the courses offered by the school rather than the BFA kids are stuck to the precise directives of the program. The kids at Point Park were enjoying the flexiblity of the BA and said that they had the same opportunities for casting.

mom2gals…I wonder how many programs are like that. This is great if the BA kids can take the same classes as the BFA students. I know of one program that this is not allowed. Only the BFA kids can take the BFA classes so my D will not be doing a BA program at that college. I guess she has a lot of phone calls to make.

Found out from Hofstra this morning that they admit 16 BFA students from a pool of 20-22. So those odds are pretty good. Just a bit of info.
