Can someone please explain to me the pros and cons of the BA program vs. the BFA? I know the BA allows students more time for double majoring/minoring (which is something I’m considering because I am interested in minoring in education) but what is the training like? This is primarily about the acting program. I am looking for a conservatory “type” program that focuses on theatre with less emphasis on academics. I heard PP had a less rigorous liberal arts education for conservatory students - BFA to be exact. What are the academic course requirments for BA students?

I do not teach at point park, but I looked at their course catalog, and it looks like both BA and BFA take 36 credits of general education. The 19 credits of Department major requirements also appear to be the same between the BA and the BFA.

Here is the link to the catalog: http://www.pointpark.edu/files/11copa7098.pdf

If you look there you will see the differences and similarities between the BA and BFA.

You mention Education... are you interested in teaching theatre in the public school system?
