BA vs BS in Biology for Grad School

Hey everyone!

I'm a transfer student planning on switching my major from psych to bio at UC Davis. However, I noticed the req's for a BS are alot more than that for a BA. Point being, if I were to get a BA instead of BS, do I even stand a chance at grad school? Any insight is appreciated.

I don’t think the type of degree matters, only the courses that you took. Generally a BA degree in science is less math-intensive than a BS degree, so that would be the only reason a BS would “look” better than BA. You may not have to take Calculus, Physics, or Biochemistry for a BA in Biology but you may have to for a BS. Check out what courses are required for graduate programs you’re interested in and make sure your undergrad program will allow you to take the courses you need.

Thank you, I really appreciate it!
