Babson, BC (CSOM) and BU (SMG)

Hi everyone, I am an international student and recently got accepted to Babson, BC (CSOM) and BU (SMG).
I really appreciate the insight and opinions of CC members which tremendously helped me during the application process. It is very uncommon for students in Thailand to transfer to the State as we have a very different educational system so I might have inaccurate knowledge making me sound naive, I do apologize in advance.
I would like to learn your opinions of the listed schools above and please comments on my knowledge of the schools.

Babson has the best reputation for Entrepreneurship and has a very diverse international population. Tight community (around 480 enrollments each year) and Entrepreneurial-minded students are the unique characteristics of the school.
However, it is less well-knowed than the other two. I do feel that I will blend well at Babson as I have an entrepreneurial spirit since when I was child who has been influenced by Chinese business families. Also, I like to hang out with international mates. After I decided that Babson is the place I am looking for, I got accepted to other reputable schools BC and BU. These two alternative made me hesitate for reasons. BC (CSOM) is ranked as the 4th of business school nationally in the business week and is tough to get in especially for the transfer; 150/1300 = 11.5% this year. I did more research and found out that CSOM is a really solid school. "<a href="http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/is-bc-carroll-the-real-deal">http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/is-bc-carroll-the-real-deal</a>". Meanwhile, BU is also reputable to the East Coast and my country. Of course, I have done more research on other several factors of those schools but I really would like to listen from people there who have the insight and experiences as I do not really want to rely on the ranking as it might inaccurately reflect the quality of the schools. Should I just think that going to Babson is the right choice for me?

I appreciate any comments and insights.

if you don’t mind me asking but how much did you get in your SATs because I’ll also be applying to Babson and BU soon

Hello, don’t know if I’m too late for the discussion or not, but I was a high school c/o 2015, and I was accepted to both BC CSOM and BU SMG. I got financial aid for BU, not for BC. In the end, it was a decision between going to CSOM, Questrom school of business, or going to NYU stern

I ended up choosing BU over BC and Cal for several reasons. (NYU is not relevant to this, so I will avoid talking about it) First of all, I would be able to graduate BU without debt. BC would cost me ~22k more per year, and I would prefer not to graduate having to pay that off. Second of all, I ended up visiting both colleges, and I was much more attracted to BU’s campus vibe and feel.

Obviously, it was a hard decision, as while BU’s SMG (Now questrom, oops) is definitely top tier, BC is ranked better by all accounts (However, not sure if this is universal or not, according to my family friends, one of whom is a business/economics professor at another college in the greater Boston area, and he said that employers, for the most part, do not distinguish THAT much between BU and BC, unless the applicants are literally exactly the same in everything else. [Another reason I decided to goto either BU or BC vs. NYU was that I have a lot of family friends in Boston and they all said they love it])

I do not know much about Babson other than that it specializes in entrepreneurship. So if entrepreneurship is dead-certain what you want to do, then I would go ahead for it, unless money prevents you from doing so.

In summary, I feel that any of these schools will be great, and that people should choose the one that fits them the best, whether it be from financial aid, college life (I mean, I don’t want to be miserable for four years…), or other reasons (such as Babson in entrepreneurship)

Just realized that this was posted in 2014…has it already been a year? wow… but OP, if you see this, I would be definitely interested in what college you decided to attend!! If you goto BU, we can become study buddies!!! If you decided on BC, we could become rivals haha
