Hi everyone, I am an international student and recently got accepted to Babson, BC (CSOM) and BU (SMG).
I really appreciate the insight and opinions of CC members which tremendously helped me during the application process. It is very uncommon for students in Thailand to transfer to the State as we have a very different educational system so I might have inaccurate knowledge making me sound naive, I do apologize in advance.
I would like to learn your opinions of the listed schools above and please comments on my knowledge of the schools.

Babson has the best reputation for Entrepreneurship and has a very diverse international population. Tight community and Entrepreneurial-minded students are the unique characteristics of the school. However, it is less well-knowed than the other two. I do feel that I will blend well at Babson as I have an entrepreneurial spirit since when I was child who has been influenced by Chinese business families. Also, I like to hang out with international mates. After I decided that Babson is the place I am looking for, I got accepted to other reputable schools BC and BU. These two alternative made me hesitant for reasons. BC (CSOM) is ranked as the 4th of business school in the business week and tough to get in especially for the transfer; 150/1300 = 11.5%. I did more research and found out that it is a really solid school. http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/is-bc-carroll-the-real-deal. Meanwhile, BU is also reputable to the East Coast and my country. Of course, I have done more research on other several factors of those schools but I really would like to listen from people there who have the insight and experiences as I do not really want to rely on the ranking as it might inaccurately reflect the quality of the schools. Do you think my decision to attend Babson is sound ?

I appreciate any comments and insights.

“After I decided that Babson is the place I am looking for”…it seems like you really want to go to Babson. Trust your instincts. Ask yourself what made you choose these particular colleges in the first place and you will find your answer.

@Robertofong So far you have mentioned several factors that are very important for you in your college selection: Here is my take on your situation:

If you want the best Entrepreneurship program, choose Babson.
If you want diversity, choose Babson or BU
If you want the best overall Business School, choose BC
If you want prestige and plan to reside in the states, choose BC
If you want prestige and plan to return back home, choose Babson or BU

Depending on what factors are more important for you, will be your decision.

But you should also consider type of school, size, and location because all three are very different.

since you have posted on the BC thread, I’ll throw out a couple of ideas:

while Babson has a much higher international contingent on a % basis, the school itself is extremely small. Thus, BC has nearly as many internationals in total numbers as does Babson. Moreover, I would guess that Wellesley Mass is anything but diverse. In contrast, the city of Boston is very international-focused. It also offers wonderful internship opportunities.

Babson is all business-all-the time. Both BU and BC have other academic offerings, should you wish to expand your curricular offerings. BU and BC have D1 sports, and excellent school spirit.

BC is a self-contained primarily suburban campus, altho part of the campus is contained within Boston’s city limits. BU is an urban camps – right in the city.

As a parent and an employer I’m a big fan of a liberal arts education. Readin’ and writin’ is good for business majors and engineers. I would not hire someone from a school like Babson. But then, we have nothing similar on the west coast.
