While we endure (with the rest of you) the agonizing wait till an Appointment comes our way we're still keeping a backup plan in place (again, probably like the rest of you out there). Son Mike's been accepted to Norwich U with a 50% ride, though we're still waiting (yes, more waiting) to see if NROTC comes thru with the full package. The back-up, back-up plan, of course, requires us to come up with the other 50% of Norwich's tuition. So the question is this - does anyone have suggestions on how best to apply for Federal Loans in this situation? Deadlines?

BTW, the "fun FASFA" is already filed (no help there). But we have not yet started on things like the Stafford, Direct, Plus, etc. loan paperwork. Can you apply and then not take the $ if the USNA appointment or NROTC scholarship comes thru?

Suggestions welcome. We're planning on "spending" the $ 250 Norwich admissions fee to hold a place just in case USNA can't get over his eye waiver issue, but we just don't know how far to take the rest of the Financial Aid course....

Thanks for any advise.
