Backing out of accepted admission offer?

Hi all - I’ve found myself in a tough situation. I accepted an offer and paid a deposit to a great graduate program. The problem is that I recently got an incredible job offer and I really don’t want to turn this offer down. It was totally unexpected and just came through in the last week. It’s a job that I would’ve been lucky to even get coming out of the graduate program.

So now I find myself in a bind. I want to accept this job and back out of my admissions offer. I feel like I could always go to grad school but this job will not be around much longer.

How would backing out of grad school impact me in the future? Could this hurt my chances at applying to other grad schools in the future?

It won’t hurt your chances in the future. Schools understand that plans change.

backing out of one grad school opportunity at this time , due to a job opportunity, will NOT have an impact on any future grad school applications.
grad schools do not share information about applicants.
relax and congratulations!

You might ask if you can defer your enrollment for a year just in case job isn’t as expected, although in my grad program they make students reapply.

I deferred by admissions to a grad school for a job and after a year really wanted to go to school. Quit and went back to school…

What type of grad school ? MBA ?

Business school, but non-MBA
