I have been waitlisted to UCR and I really want to appeal to them. But if I send them a bad appeal letter, do you think that would decrease my chances of being accepted? I know that my chances of getting off the waitlist is already very slim.
Hunh? You mean you have the OPTION of sending a “bad” appeal letter versus a “good” one?
But seriously, your premise is off. You have no basis for appeal. You send them a note saying that if you were accepted off the WL – that you’d definitely attend as UCR is your first choice. There is nothing to appeal (unless somehow you discovered that they didn’t read something correctly in your file).
There is no appealing on college decisions unless perhaps something in the process has gone very very wrong (wrong scores sent, etc).
otherwise all you can do is what T26 said.
@T26E4 How can I tell them that? By mailing a physical note?
Email is fine.
@T26E4 What do you suggest I put as the subject title?
To do an appeal for the UCs, they only accept letters that provide new and compelling info as to why you should get in that wasn’t present in your application. Ex’s: wrongly reported scores, severe family/medical issues, etc. They won’t reverse your decision because you want to go there really badly or because you got good grades during senior year. Good luck.
