i got a 10 on my essay score because i screwed up, but my entire score is a 2280. would that count against me in admissions ? i took it in november, and i got an A in AP English Language last semester; i'm also an editor for my school newspaper. Would the bad essay score really factor in college admissions?

are you serious? .. a 10/12 is not a bad essay score .. and no it will not count against you in admissions

SAT essay scores are pure BS. every college knows that. It shows nothing about your talent and your skills. Don't bother retaking it at all.

2280 is an excellent score.
You missed the 99.9 percentile by 10/20 points, but don't fret.
10/12 is a great essay score. 10-12 is usually the score that's given
to long essays. It's arbitrary and dumb.

I had a 76 MC, 7 Essay.
However, I have a 5 on the AP Lit exam, and I'm an editor of my school's lit mag.

ok. cool. thanks so much...now i can rest easy!

Yeah, uh, it's not the "essay" that matters -- it's your composite writing score.
