wittywonka: yeah I know those are some of the best business schools, I was just trying to see if I had any shot at any of them. I’d say it was more social problems that lead to academic problems, but now I’ve gained the maturity I need to succeed and live up to my capabilities.

I had very good stats in high school, (4.1 gpa, 2310 sats, several ap’s, etc) now I’m just hoping I get a chance to live up to them.

columbia_student: how are LACs in terms of transferring?

edit: copy/pasted some of my stats from a different post

Did you know USC have a freshman forgiveness? My daughter knows a friend who had a really high GPA in high school(4.6) but got a D in Chemistry and that’s what they told him.
Did you talk to a counselor before withdrawn?

I would stay away from schools that are at the top of the heep and big state schools. I mean UTexas is HUGE. That would be a disaster for you, given your history. I would NOT venture far from home. I would stay within 3 hours or so. Don’t sneer at second tier schools. Fordham is fine. Ursinus is a good school. UScranton. Fairfield. Get over this prestige notion you have. Calm down, focus on your courses now, and apply to a school where you fit in. If you are having trouble with that notion, then perhaps you need a professional counselor to assist you in directing your attention to the kind of schools where you will have a better chance of success and stay away from the high pressure high prestige reach schools.

I hate to be blunt here, but you have ZERO chance at Emory, Penn-Wharton, UNC, NYU-Stern, UTexas and Northwestern. They will look at your history and say NO! Forgettaboutit.

Not to panic or worry, focus on the schools where you have a decent chance: Fordham, Rutgers, etc.
