<p>I'm currently in my freshman year and these days, I haven't been satisfied with my grades.
I go to an IB international high school in Korea (and I'm Korean) and I'm not attending a highly competitive school among all of the international schools in Korea.
Anyways, I've been getting mostly B's (grades like 5/8, 6/8, 8/10, etc.) on every subjects. When I calculated my GPA from first semester, I got a GPA of 5.9(which is considered as a B or B+). I've been currently getting slightly better grades this semester, except for one subject, which is Mandarin(my grades have been dropping for this subject!) Still, even though I'm getting better grades, they are not good enough to satisfy me and my parents :(<br>
My dream is to get into great schools like the Ivy League universities or the first tier schools in the US. Do you think, if I do better on my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year, it is very possible for me to get into those schools? Do universities like consistent good grades throughout high school career or do they like improvements better?
I would very much appreciate any replies on this thread! Thank you! :)
(P.S Please correct any grammar mistakes I have here..I'm working hard on my grammar these days!)</p>
<p>Of course, great grades in all years is best, but that is stating the obvious. Failing that, an improving trend is absolutely better than a declining trend. There are some colleges which do not factor in freshman grades.</p>
<p>With all that said, however, the past is the past. It is pointless to wring your hands over what you cannot change. What you *can *do is make the best of the remaining years in high school and do your best going forward. And remember, colleges will look at more than just grades.</p>
