Bad freshman year?

So I'm halfway through my freshman year of high school, and it's not going as well as I had hoped. Grades so far:

English H: C+ or B- it's borderline
Gym cp: A
Biology H: C-
Spanish 2: A-
World History H: A
Band cp: A-
Finance cp: A
Algebra 2 cp: B-

I have pretty good EC's though that I plan to continue and add more next year. Also, I took the SAT halfway through 8th grade and got a 1610, been studying for it ever since and been planning to take it fall and spring of sophomore year, goal is a 2200+. Sorry for the length of this post, but my question is, how will my low gpa in freshman year effect my college apps? Freshman year is notoriously the hardest year of high school at my school because of bad teachers and such, so I'm hoping my gpa will go up significantly next year especially since I'm planning to study for certain classes I'm taking next year on my own over the summer, just to prepare myself better. If there is an upward trend on my grades through high school from here, can I still get into the schools I like? (The college of William & Mary, U of Pitt, US naval academy, Virginia tech, and some others on the level of those colleges) Will my freshman year ruin my reputation to colleges because the C's make me look lazy? Will a very high SAT score help cancel freshman year out? I'm still only half way through the year, but very worried :/

Bump…

Freshman year definitely counts just as much as the rest, but colleges love to see improvement. If you can get to straight As in the second semester or even in Sophomore year, that would be wonderful. Also, it seems you are struggling in honors classes. Though these honors classes do help boost your GPA, getting Cs in them is lowering it. Consider dropping an honors class if you feel overloaded with work. Also, do you feel as if you are being lazy? Consider your ability level. If getting 2 Cs is the best you can do then that’s fine, but if you’re not studying and choosing to hang out with friends instead of doing your homework, I think we both know that you need to pick up some slack and show colleges just what you can do  In the wise words of John Green, “How do we get out of this labyrinth of suffering?” College is the end. Do your best and you will kill it!
