@mnm111 Thanks for the response! I do understand that CMU-SCS would be an amazing school, but do you know how they view GPA / Scores?
@MYOS1634 WOW! Thanks for such an amazing response, I was mid-set for SJSU, but after reading your post my horizons have broadened. Your response was really great, but I don’t think I have a shot at Stanford / Cal-tech with my GPA, haha. I know I should apply, but my GPA is really holding me back, and I don’t think they would want someone like me. Also, how do you think colleges will look at my transcrip + ECs? Hard worker, but not at school? I don’t know honestly, and would love some feedback.
You never know - you’re part of these “hard to guess” candidates, so, go for Stanford, you never know. They REALLY like the type of ECs you have and in the past they’ve been known to overlook some lackluster GPAs for candidates with this type of ECs. However, let’s be real, Asian, male, California, and until now (and until that awesome “history of rock’n’roll” class you"ll take this summer, along with a blog about Person of Interest, or whatever… - understand, those are just examples :D) you’ve been rather prototypical in your academic pursuits. So it’s hard to guess. But it’s worth a shot.
You’ll have to apply widely, that’s all.
