I went to UCSD for three quarters (one year). I got B+s/Bs/C in my first quarter. The second quarter I started to slack off a bit and I got an F in math and B/C's in other classes. The third quarter is where I messed up, I got two Ws and an F since I couldn't withdraw all classes.

So in total I got two Ws and two Fs at UCSD, leading to my academic dismissal. There was no big reason for this, I just got lazy and it snowballed into something I couldn't control. I was also having trouble being far away from my family and being on my own for the first time. We also make under 15k a year, so paying for college was tough even with grant help and loans.

I decided to transfer to the CC back at home to complete the CSU breadth requirements. My first semester I got straight A's (five, but some classes were extracurricular 1 units). The next semester I got two A's and a B (bad professor). This is my third semester, and I also joined the honors program. I'm taking three honors classes right now and four total. I need four more classes to get my CompSci associates and to finish my breadth reqs which I plan to do in Spring.

My GPA at CC is 3.8, but my GPA at UCSD was like ~1.5. I think it rounds to about a 2.9 GPA right now. I'm planning to get straight As this semester and next semester.

Also, I retook one of the classes I failed with an A. I am planning to retake the other one next semester.

So... do you guys think I have a chance? I want to transfer to Cal Poly SLO, but my backups are Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach. I am also applying to UC just for the heck of it, but I doubt I'll get in.

I'm so scared that I won't get into any college I apply to. I don't know what to say in my
personal statements - do I just say I got lazy? Because after I got dismissed I felt really motivated to get my life together, and I feel my grades show it. Its only two years ago, but it feels like I have matured so much.

Also, the head of honors at my school told me I'm not obligated to send my grades from UCSD. I've read on here that it is a bad idea to hide the transcript. I don't think I should do it because I also have some GE units I completed at UCSD, so it would be hard to hide (unless my CC transcript shows it).

tl;dr: Got dismissed from UC my first year, went to CC for a few semesters with good GPA and honors, do I have a chance at SLO or CSU? My major is compsci.
