Bad grades freshman year, straight A's ever since. Do I still have a chance at top universities?

Freshman year, I screwed up really badly. I got two C’s first semester, one C second, with a bunch of B’s and a few A’s. But, I did get my act together and have been getting straight A’s sophomore and junior years. With my freshman year grades, my GPA is about 3.62/3.89. Without freshman year, UW GPA is 4.0/4.33.

Did freshman year screw up my chances for Ivies or other top tier schools? Will the upward trend help make up for the low GPA and class rank or no?

Whoops, I meant “Without freshman year, GPA is 4.0/4.33”. The UW isn’t supposed to be there.

Pretty sure many top schools don’t even consider freshman year. A kid at my school got a D freshman year and he’s at Stanford now.

Yep, some don’t consider freshman year, and those that do like to see an upward trend in grades.
