Trouble with Freshman GPA??!!

Freshman Year - 4.1666667
Sophomore Year - 4.6
Junior Year - 5.0
Senior Year (1st Semester) - 4.8

*Schools i applied to were Stanford,UCLA,UC Berkeley and Columbia

My worry is that my Freshman Year GPA was terrible (4.1666667)

Do you think Universities will weigh that year heavily and punish me for it?

The upward trend in grades is a positive factor but i'm still worried that they'll look at my Freshman Year in a negative light.

P.S. I'm not being arrogant, its just that i go to a VERY competitive school and i'm one of the few in my class to screw up Freshman Year.

Thanks!

Your freshman year shouldn’t be too big a deal. After all, colleges take work that you’ve done as a 16 or 17 year old as a better indicator of success than work done as a 14 year old. Besides, Stanford in particular is known for discounting freshman grades completely.

But I’m also wondering - what is the GPA scale that your school uses? Is your 5.0 during junior year weighted?

Yes, it was weighted. I took all AP’s and Honors.

To my knowledge, most colleges don’t even bother looking at freshman grades, unless its a HUGE improvement, ie: 2.9 to a 3.7 +.
