Bad Grades Sophomore Year

Hi, I'm a sophomore this year, and I've had a pretty rough school year. First semester, I got a B+ in AP Physics, and this semester, I could possibly get 2, maybe 3 more B's. I'm usually a straight A student, and I know that I'll study really hard for the rest of high school. So if I get all A's junior and senior year, will these grades affect my chances at Ivies? And I'm hoping to get all 5's on my AP exams :P (crosses fingers)

Thank you so much in advance!

Try to bring up this year’s grades (maybe your final grades will be low As?) As long as you keep a rigorous schedule and get As junior and senior year, you will still have a chance. However, it would be a lie to say that it won’t affect your chances. Everything you do, in the end, becomes a part of your application. The question then becomes how you come off as an applicant as a whole. Grades aren’t everything, but they do count.
