Bad grades then, good grades now..

This has been occupying my mind for awhile now and I need some raw advice that admissions officers refuse to give me.

I am enlisted Air Force and with one year from separation.. I currently have 16 credits of regionally accredited courses from the local school, all of which are actual high level classes (not beginners algebra for example). Have a 4.0 GPA as of now, with about 2/3 more courses expected before my transfer application. By the time I will send out my transfer applications, I will have my associate's degree from the Air Force, along with around 24 credits from the University I'm at now. Hopefully I can maintain this 4.0. Flying colors enlistment, early promotion @ 15% selection rate, lots of sports/activities.. The catch is that my High school grades barely scraped a 3.0..

Every school in Massachusetts I've called have been holding back and not giving me a good opinion on my chances of getting accepted. Is the military helping out my odds, or should I forget about going to schools like Northeastern, Boston University or Tufts? I felt like I got punched in the gut when I found out that they accept fewer transfer students proportionally than they accept normal applicants!

If somebody out there is an admissions officer can you please snap me out of this anxiety attack? Thanks :)
