Okay, so that covers those wonderful grades my freshmen year. It was my first year doing virtual school so I had a difficult time managing my time considering I came out of public school and straight into full time virtual.

As you can tell I really figured out what to do my sophomore year and managed to get all A's and just 1 B.

Back to my main question; will my freshmen year screw up my chances of getting into a decent college? I know it is hard to tell without EC's and SAT scores but I haven't taken my SAT yet. EC's are pretty good in my opinion. I guess I could say, how bad will my freshmen year affect my chances of getting into a decent college?

Thanks so much for any info or opinions you can provide!

A lot of schools will forgive a mediocre freshman year if the rest of your HS career is excellent.

Did you stop taking Spanish? That could be a red flag, unless it’s simply not available to you.

What is your definition of a “decent” college?
Do well in your SATs and essays and you’ll be a strong enough applicant for your state flagship, unless we’re talking about UC Berkeley (extremely competitive - I’d still encourage applying) or UT Austin outside of the top 7% (which is a gamble).

Spanish is very difficult to learn through virtual school considering the teachers are hard graders and the information through the lessons aren’t very detailed. I received C’s both semesters of Spanish 2 in virtual school. When I was in public school, I took Spanish 1 and received an A and a B. I was debating about taking Spanish 3 but parents/guidance counselor advised me that it was not a necessity. I also figured that since I didn’t do so great in Spanish 2, I was going to have a hard time managing decent grades in Spanish 3.

Decent college to me would be UCF (University of Central Florida) or UF (great school in my opinion) but probably is a long shot considering admissions are becoming very very competitive.

Ah. ignore this post.

?

You have plenty of time to get your overall grades up to get into UF/UCF. Keep at it.

I have a simple question that I probably should know. Do colleges such as UF/UCF view your overall GPA with electives and core classes or just core classes?

Also, thanks for the reinforcement. Freshmen year has been nagging in the back of my brain the whole past year. I
