Has anyone else been disappointed with their SAT scores? I studied and got only a 1100, but everyone else that I took it with who didn’t study scored above 1300… I know that the ACT is an option, but I’ve heard that the essay is harder and it’s more time constricting, which are both weak points for me. I don’t have time for SAT tutoring because I already have tutoring everyday for my regular classes. I need to find some way to either score high or impress the admissions offices, because my overall grades in school aren’t that impressive either, even though I devote all my time to school (the reason I don’t do any extracurriculars). Does anyone else have any methods for scoring high?
If you’re busy during the school year, take advantage of this summer with prep materials such as an online course or a boot camp for the SAT. By August/September, you should be ready to take the test.
Don’t allow your 1100 to discourage you. You just need to become familiar with the types of questions on the SAT and you should be good to go. (repetition!)
@Student1928 thank you!
I would totally use the online SAT prep on Khan Academy, it’s free and they’ve partnered with the College Board to make sure that their SAT practices and tests are all accurate.
I got a lower score than I wanted initially, and took around 2 months to do more practice using Khan and got my score up by 90 points (Not a lot, but it’s what I needed).
They do also have a nice system set up to send email alerts so that you don’t miss your practice for the day, which I found quite helpful.
Go for Khan Academy even I got an 1120 in the 1st attempt but jumped to a 1420 with their help. Try to score maximum in maths since english always lets you down. Don’t for get to take the subject tests they are easy to score I got a 800 in Physics,Math1 and Math2. ATB!
@mojojojo23 thanks! Yeah math is what I struggle with the most but I’m pretty strong in English, so I should probably focus on that a little more. If my AP French exam doesn’t go well, then i’m gonna take the subject test for that too.
@audreykoz Yeah I did a few lessons with Khan Academy but I definitely think I should have used that resource more instead of just going out of the book. I’ll try to make it a routine. Thank you!
Definitely do a punch of timed official practice tests!! Even just one section at a time! I did that and my score increased 100 points from my very first sat
Just keep studying, especially with Khan Academy. I wish I did my SAT earlier and studies for it. I only got a 1200 and that’s the score I had to submit to colleges. If I could go back in time I would definitely study and take practice tests. Also during the test don’t panic and don’t spend too much time on the same question. Come back to it. (Also, try to be slick and go back to other sections if you have time LOL)
