bad sign?

i know i’m probably reading too much into this and projecting my own emotions onto this situation…but…

i sent an application update to brown and my friend sent an application update also around the same time (about a week ago)

however she received an email response thanking her for the update while i did not…
[i called today and the office said they received it.]
idk…is it a bad sign that i didn’t receive an email response? or am i just reading too much into this?
i was thinking it could possibly just be different people’s responses…maybe the person who checked her email responds to things and the one who checked mine doesnt?
or maybe not…?

idk i know this is a stupid post, but with a little more than a month, im getting extremely nervous.

Yes you’re overreacting. Stay away CC for awhile!
Good luck!

as long as they said they got it and put it in your file you’re fine and reading too much into it

I have the same question. There was an error on my transcript that I discovered in December, and told my school to resend the updated transcript to all my colleges. Then I wrote an email to each of the respective admissions offices about a week ago, saying to disregard the previously sent transcripts. Some of my colleges were quick to reply (thank you Amherst and Stanford!), while others (including Brown) haven’t responded at all.

Perhaps I’m reading too much into this, but could there be a reason why certain schools responded, and why some others didn’t? Maybe the ones that didn’t reply already put my application into the rejection pile… :(

if it were that easy to figure out where you stood in the admissions game, Kaplan and Princeton Review would have already set up a system where they could charge you to make up reasons to contact schools to figure out where you stood.

That’s true. :stuck_out_tongue: But truthfully, the real reason for my nervousness is the fact that this is my second time applying to colleges (although I never applied to Brown before this year). Last year (2011), I also sent an application update around the same time to the private colleges I applied to, and only one of them replied with a confirmation email. I ended up getting rejected from all of them - but I did have back-ups, so it wasn’t the worst-case scenario.

That’s why I’m wondering if there could possibly be any reason behind whether or not a college replies to an applicant’s further updates - and if a college already decided on putting a specific application into the rejection pile, they probably wouldn’t be motivated to open or read any subsequent information from the applicant…

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
Stay clear of CC threads for a while. Neuroticism is contagious.
