Bad to complete UGrad in 5 years?

I'm an undergraduate student looking to attend a masters program in Religious Studies or Anthropology (my two majors). I have only a 3.0 GPA and am in my junior year. My question: would it do me a lot of harm to complete this double major in 5 years to get my GPA up and take time to engage in some serious research, etc?

Or is it better to keep it to 4?

I'm looking to get into a competitive graduate school in my field, otherwise I would apply to an OK one after 4 years and be satisfied. I'm just unsure of the implications on my UGrad record and acceptance chances if I take an extra year to graduate.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

i don't think taking an extra year would harm you (aside from another year of tuition). but don't take my word for it

No one will care if you take 5 years. Happens all the time for a variety of reasons.

/agree with DespSeekPhD.

Actually, the national average is something like 5.5 years for an undergrad I am told. I wouldn't worry about taking 5 years. Grad schools are more interested in what you bring to the table, not how fast you got there.

Thank you so much to everyone who replied.
