Is it bad to tell colleges you're shy?
I have to answer a very hard college prompt and the only thing i can think of is writing about how speeches terrify me (b/c im shy and have stage fright) and the bad ones I gave. But, I had been trying hard each time until I finally gave a average speech. And I want to conclude that I won't stop trying to get better. Its just that I haven't completely gotten over my shyness. Would mentioning my shyness even thuogh i haven't complete conquered hurt me?

Say that you’ve come a long way and are continuing to work on it–I think its a good idea.

GOod luck!!

Maybe focus more on the stage fright and how you’re shy presenting in front of a lot of people, rather than being shy in social situations.

I think it’s a good idea, though!

I wrote my commonapp essay about my first debate speech, kind of talking about how shy i was and how speech and debate has kind of helped me be more confident. Very similar concept :p. I’d do it; it might not seem like a complete picture to you because you haven’t conquered it and such it’s good to show progress.

I wrote one supplement about how I used to be very awkward and shy when it came to oral presentations, but how I’ve come a long way since freshman year. I think as long as you focus on the improvement it’ll be a positive thing.
