Is it bad to tell colleges that you are shy in the common app?

So I’m thinking of what to write for my common app. I wanted to choose the second prompt-- “The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?”-- and write about a time I failed to complete a task and completely embarrassed myself on the first day of a volunteer position, due to my shyness. I want to then say how after some time I managed to overcome some of the shyness and become more familiar with the job and the people I’d have to interact with. But I am afraid that it will hurt my chances for some colleges if I tell them that I am inherently shy (or just any bad quality in general). Is writing about this a bad idea? (btw i am applying to some top schools)

It’s about how you deliver yourself in the essay. My Common App essay is about milk and my teachers said it was a bad idea; that is, until they read it. I’d get your English teacher to read over it and see what he/she thinks.
