Okay so this May, my writing score went downnnnnnnnnnn the drain. I was expecting a 720-800 and ended up with a 630. I had a better score last time, but that's besides the point. The thing that screwed me over was the "improving paragraphs"; I got all 25 of the "improving sentences" correct and 17/18 on the identifying "sentence errors". THEN I GOT 2/6 OF THE "IMPROVING PARAGRAPHS" CORRECT! It was always my favourite part and I NEVER (NOT ONCE!) made mistakes on that part. Sad, huh? Not to mention the 7 on the essay. lol.

Hey, don’t worry. On my March SAT I got 780 in Writing. On May it went down to 680, simply because my essay went from an 11 to an 8.

Take it again. If the essay topic suits you better on that next test, you might very well get the +720 score you look for. The Multiple Choice for the Writing section is the easiest thing to improve in the entire exam.

The improving paragraph questions are undoubtedly the easiest 6 questions on the SAT, so the fact that you got 4 wrong is a pretty strong indication that you were rushing, which is very understandable on those 6 questions. But I’m guessing you had enough time left to avoid those errors, so next time just slow down. Read the whole paragraph if you don’t usually, it takes literally 30 seconds–and I’m a slow reader.

As for the essay, try doing some searches on the SAT board for the Rocket Review method. If you follow that method it’s nearly impossible to not score a 12, especially if you’re getting so many of the grammar questions correct.

^Thank you guys. Yeah, I think I can pretty much do everything you said. And yes, Godfatherbob, those were supposedly the easisest questions and yet I got them wrong! So frustrating! I will try for 10-12 on the essay next time and I’ll just read and RE-READ the paragraphs.lol. So yeah, Thanks for the input!

I feel stupid asking this… but what grade are you people in?
