Baird Urban Experience Letter

So I got this letter from NYU today telling me about scholarships. It talks mostly about The Baird Urban Experience scholarship. At the end, it says "We look forward to welcoming you as a participant in the Baird Urban Experience in September!"...although the letter never says that I actually received it or that I even got in. It tells me to send in a copy of the certificate confirming my status as a National Merit Finalist...the problem is that I am not one, although the letter makes it seem like they think I am. It also says that they will provide, with the letter inviting me to enter CAS as a student in the program, a form that I may use to list NYU as my first choice college. So, does this mean that I will probably get in, or do they just send it to all applicants. I'm thinking its the latter, because I'm not actually a National Merit Finalist, so it wouldn't really make sense in context, personally. Did anyone else get this, or know what it's about?

I got this too. Is this a good sign?

lol...I was looking back to last year's posts about this. It looked to me like everyone who got one, ended up getting in. But then there was also someone who called the admissions office last year asking about it, and they acted really annoyed and said that it doesn't mean anything, as in it doesn't mean that you got accepted or rejected. It certainly seems like a good sign, though...I mean, I'd rather have gotten it than not.

i got one today

Have either of you gotten a financial aid offer yet?

By the way, here's NYU's description of the program -- Henry M. Baird Scholars
Henry M. Baird Scholarships are awarded to selected students who have been recognized as National Merit Finalists. Baird Scholars participate in special activities, including cultural programs, the Scholars Lecture Series, Freshman Honors Seminars, and community service. In addition, they are assigned a senior faculty member who will customize their academic programs to their individual interests or needs.

Hey...after getting the letter yesterday, I got an invite to an admitted students day, today, so I'd say that it definitely means you are in.

yeah me too, i also got this letter yesterday then today i got an invitation to the CAS reception for admitted students

i also got both letters.

I got the Baird Urban Experience letter too, and I am also not a national merit finalist. So I really don't understand the point of it. I'm hoping it means I have a good chance of getting in. Do you think people who arent finalists can also be in Baird?

do u think this is also considered "likely letter?"

i mean, why would they send u this mail if u r rejected rite? and it does say that "we look forward to welcoming you in september"... i think this letter means that we are "in" but u hab to turn in forms to get the scholarships...

or at least this is what i really want to believe... :).......

and how come i'm not getting that freaking invitation (CAS reception or university day) .. i live in southern california and this is making me go crazy... gosh.......

Does the letter mention a particular amount of $ that you would get for the Baird scholarship?

well it says the minimum amount u can get is $5000

i hope you guys are right..

but then again the adcom said it has nothing to do with acceptance itself so...

sigh....

did anyone get into the actual program?
does anyone have any other information about the program?
