Balance of words between the 2 essays

Hi,

I've written about 700 words for one of my essays for Berkeley. I know that overall there should be 1000 words between the two essays, so I'm wondering whether it'll be bad to weigh out the two essays with 700 and 300 words (wrote 700 for the second prompt). Would they rather that we weigh it out at 500 words each?

I actually wrote the 700 word essay for the common app, but felt that it could be adapted to the UC one to save time (got so many of other things going on that I don't have time to write loads of essays). Would any current Berkeley students be willing to read the essay and provide some feedback? I worried that I haven't sufficiently answered the prompt because it asks about an experience/quality/talent and how it relates to the person I am. I wrote about a general recurring experience as opposed to a one-off experience.

Anyone willing to provide some feedback? I'd rather not send it to '14ers since the deadline for them is still a week from now.

Thanks

yeah i would atleast go for 600 and 400-300 is a little over a paragraph imo.

im a second year right now-you can pm me, if you want.

When I wrote my essays last year, I had about 650/400 (yes, I went overboard a little).

I think 700-300 is over the limit - 600-400 would be my max.

I think I did 550/450 (ish) last year; I’m a freshman now and you can PM me if you want.

I did 600 400.
