..Is there a limit on how many times you can re-audition??

nate: unless you're grades are absolutly not good, you should have no problem getting in. You are required to get into the school before you are allowed to audition, so once you get accepted to the college, you grades have no more weight on your acceptance into the MT program.

Defyyourself04: Honestly I don't know. I do know people do re-audition in the next round of auditions. For example, if someone had auditioned to be in the graduating class of '10 but didn't get in, they are allowed to re-audition the next year for acceptance into the class of '11. This happens a lot, but it's typically not succesful.

my grades as of right now are about average not bad border line average! But I'm busting my butt this year to get them up a bit higher!

You'll have no problem getting into the college. But I recomend getting your grades up as high as possible, cause BW is pretty generous with their merit scholarships

Thanks!! And is BW's program more of a "cut throat" competitive/nurturing enviorment? Because that's the type of enviorment I work best in. I like competition and get really competitive when it comes to theater. I'm not mean to people...acutally I'm nice to people lol but when it comes to learning about theater/musical theater I take it super seriously.

Just wanted to give a quick update - I'm a freshman MT this year at BW--just finished my first week. I love it here. Everyone is nice and our freshman class of 12 is very diverse, talented, and fun. There is an awesome workout facility that we have free access to. I'm about to go get food, but just thought I'd give an update - I love it here and I highly suggest the program to anyone looking for schools to audition.

PS- Rumor has it Andrew Lloyd Weber is coming to see our Phantom of the Opera in Nov.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that it was just a typo - but if not, remember that Webber has 2 B's :)

thank you,.. Webber

My friend just auditioned at BW (without anyyyyyy acting training ever in her life haha.) And she said she got in! I heard also they weigh singing the most, next acting, and the least weighted is dance? Not sure if this is true -- I mean I know you can't "lack" necessarily with any component but I think maybe..just maybe..I might audition there for mt! I like the idea of the bachelor of MUSIC lol.

Congrats to your friend. Acting is weighed just as much as singing, so she must have natural instincts. If you are not a dancer, it will not make you uneligable for the program, but if you are it will help you.

I have to chime in! I auditioned at BW January 26th, and this was the most organized, professionally run, and enjoyable college audition I have experience thus far! The day was extremely organized. Everyone received a sheet upon check in stating exactly when their vocal/acting audition would take place, as well as the time of their piano placement (if they were taking one) and the schedule (very accurate) for the day. This school made auditioning fun!!! I watched the most amazing master class, which I'm pretty sure BWMT09 performed in. I don't know who you are, but the talent I saw was literally mind blowing! It's extremely obvious that this program has great voice teachers! I was so happy to finally find a school where I could rest assured that the vocal training was superb (you just never know... it's scary).

If anyone who's a junior is out there looking for colleges to apply to next year, I'd definitely recommend applying to this school simply for the great audition experience. I was really surprised at how great the MT program was, and I came to the conclusion that the only reason it may be lesser known is because it's younger.

Thanks to this audition day, I was able to give the best audition I have ever given! Having experienced some not-so-great auditions elsewhere (on the schools part, not mine), I really appreciated the efforts BW went through to make the audition day great.

Now, if only I could take the one spot they have open for a blonde soprano ingenue... (okay, yes, I did just go a bit crazy with the gushing)

Thanks for that great post Kaitrin, I'm glad you loved BW. I hope you get in!

According to BW's web site, the rest of the auditions are for people who want to be put on the waitlist only. Have you made all your offers for this year already? Is your waitlist like Otterbein's with a separate waitlist for each type (blond ingenue, etc etc) or is it a general waitlist and you just go down the line?

I just checked the admissions site. The 16th must have just been added cause it has not been on our schedule as an audition date this semester. We have had flood of people applying for the program this year, so I'm assuming that this is why we added a new date. It says waitlist cause the date probably already has as many auditioners as it can fit. Next years class has not been filled out already, we wait until we have seen everyone before we send out acceptance letters.

Do you mean to say that you wait until all auditions are completed before FILLING THE CLASS, but not before sending out some acceptance letters? I think this must be what you mean but your statement may confuse some because B-W doesn't wait until all auditions are completed to send out SOME accepatances, but just waits to fill ALL available slots.....just like many other schools who accept BFA candidates on a rolling basis but do not fill the entire class until auditions are completed. For example, I know someone who was accepted to B-W in the fall. However, like with other BFA programs, B-W would not bother to hold auditions unless they have slots in the class that they have left open. No school holds auditions to earn a spot on a wait list. As BWMT09 says, it must say "waitlist" meaning there is a waitlist to get an audition slot and to be accomodated.

From my understanding, BW admits from its first audition in the fall then waits until all the rest of the auditions are completed to admit the rest of the class.

Yes, there are acceptances made in the fall. But all spring acceptances are not made until all spring auditions are finished

Okay.
So I just finished my BW audition.
It was the most amazing thing ever.
I felt right at home from the minute I recieved my folder to the second I shut the car door to leave.
Vicki is SO talented, oh my gosh, She greets you as you walk into your audition, I seriously just wanted to hug her she was so nice. She was also wearing UGG boots, and let me tell you, they looked good on her ;) HAHA!
The atmosphere was totally chill which made the day so very stress free, and all of the students were so professional and nice, it was just fantastic. The master class pretty much made my day. I learned SOO much and I think that it's a fabulous idea to let the prospective students see what a class with a professional (in this case agent/b'way performer) is really like. I really learned a lot from Tim, and all of the students perfroming. I'm pretty sure the BWMT09 was there, but I'm not sure which one he was. The class of 09' rocked it out. Look out in 2009 b'way. Especially for Malika Petty, that girl is FIERCE! So look out. Okay, so anyways, back to the day. After the master class, which was pretty long in my opinion, but really worth it and an overall great learning experience (FOR FREE!) haha, we kind of chilled until the dance.
The dance wasn't too tough, I'm an ok dancer, it was just a little fast for me. But I just loved it and put my personal spin on it, with a huge smile, so I hope I scored some points there.
In all, the day was amazing, and everything that a great MT program audition should be like. As of now B-W is my top choice, over Otterbein, and I think I may be close to getting in to OC.
But, I'm holding out for B-W.
Sorry I wrote a book, but I just wanted to share this great experience with anyone who would want to listen.
To Vicki, Students, and all other Faculty of the program,
KUDOS! And thank you for a WONDERFUL day.
Hope to join you all in the fall!

FierceMTHopeful, Thanks for the comments on your experience. I'm glad you liked the program. I Hope you get in.

Hey, I have a question. I'm auditioning at BW next week saturday (Feb. 23rd). I'm a transfer student, and I was wondering if transfers get any different treatment in the selection process compared to the undergraduates? Do we have to wait longer for a reply? Are undergrads considered FIRST and then we fill in the gaps? If there's any info about this it would be great!
