Ballet at WUSTL

11th grade, 4.02 WGPA

I have been dancing ballet for the past 9-10 years of my life, and a big factor of why I would like to attend WUSTL is their unique ballet minor. I want to go pre-med, but dance is important to me since I have been doing it for so long. I was wondering if I would have any advantage at all in being accepted because I have so many years of ballet experience, and WUSTL is one of the only school that offers this minor. In addition, many people who focus on ballet don’t have grades as high as mine are, which is why I am hoping that I will stand out somewhat.

I do participate in other activities: 5 Honor Societies, a leadership committee for Relay for Life, 2 clubs, Spanish awards, and 150+ volunteering hours at a hospital, so ballet isn’t my only focus outside of school.

TL;DR: Does having so many years of ballet experience in addition to maintaining fairly good grades and being involved in school give me any sort of advantage in applying to WUSTL, considering they are one of very few school offering a ballet minor?

Bump… Any help is appreciated!!

Unless you are recruited athlete, there is no way to know for sure if you have a better chance of getting accepted or not. However, you do have something that you did for many years and are obviously very passionate about. Try to convey that in your essays about how Ballet has made you as a person and try to show your best self.
