Bands Everyone Should Listen To

Scream if you love Beck!

(ok, not a band but whatever.)

Tool, RATM, Atmosphere, Talib Kweli, Sublime, Clutch, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queens of the Stone Age, Kyruss, Jimi Hendrix

Oh and as for newer bands, I love N.E.R.D. I find them very unique.

the current indie staples are pretty damn good.
Broken Social Scene, the Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, that sort of thing. they're all brilliant.
(and Sufjan Stevens is freaking hot, if you need more convincing.)

I'm also nuts about this crazy Australian band called The Living End. it's this rad punk/rockabilly type stuff. sometimes there's horns. it's all amazing.

and if you don't already listen to Ben Folds, do.

indie -

acoustic/folk:
sufjan stevens, devendra banhart, okkervil river, neutral milk hotel

crazy music:
bloc party, arctic monkeys, kaiser chiefs, the caesars

indie lyrical:
death cab for cutie, postal service, spoon, the perishers

rap:
Jay Z, Nas, Notorious B.I.G, 2Pac, Beanie Siegel, anything with Miri Ben Ari (hip hop violinst, makes for really nice music), Kanye West

Oh really? Because every other music magazine seems to speak of Houston as being the 'Seattle' of rap.

Actually I'm not emo at all. I wear Old Navy MENS jeans, a hurley shirt and Nike shoes. I don't wear black eyeliner and I haven't cried at all lately. Actually, most of those bands are more alternative or hardcore than emo. I can't really stand rap and country just kills me. But whatever floats your boat. I'm not trying to create clones here :)

grunge isnt music either.

oh come on wpwannabe...its emo, give up. thats like calling atreyu hardcore.

Yeah, but you listen to Tool. The most pretentious music there is.

-ed gein (not the murderer)
-anah aevia
-sigur ros
-converge
-from a second story window
- refused :) :)
- the shins
- the strokes

It may be pretentious in your eyes...but its one hell of an experience every single time I listen to it. As a friend of mine once said, "Their music is alive."

hmmmm Dashboard Confessional is the gayest crap ever aaaanndddd...
