Hello all,

I have a BS in Mathematics and I'm currently in my first year (second semester) of a Masters in Mathematics at a regular state school in which I will graduate in 2 more semesters.

I have studied math just because I like it and was planning on going for my Phd just because I didnt have any other career-specific goals in my mind and figured obtaining more education never hurts and I'm young (21) so I don't have to hurry etc.

Thing is, I have an uncle who works for a bank as a vice-president of treasury and investment or something along those lines. He contacted me because he found out I was about to finish my masters in math and wanted to help me etc.

He told me he could help me get an internship this summer (by using his position and pull some strings is my guess) so I could get a taste of the banking world and so I could "get a taste of how all the math I knew is applied in the real world" (his words) and then after the internship and the extra year I need to finish my masters, get a full time position. All this interests me very much.

My worry is, and I have told him, I have no knowledge or experience whatsoever on finance/economics/banking etc and I wonder how it is all going to play out when I'm interviewed.

Is it possible to get in the banking world only with math knowledge? What do I say in an interview? "I know the math, just give me the opportunity to learn the banking part"?
