<p>What are the best banks close to campus?</p>
<p>Wachovia is about a block away.</p>
<p>And Suntrust is across the street. They're a tossup as to which is better. Suntrust has an ATM on campus, which is nice.</p>
<p>We bank at both. The Wachovia Visa Buxx program really worked out nice with D1. However, right now we are leaning towards Sun Trust for D2 when she goes to W&L.</p>

<p>If you do Wachovia, have someone who is already a customer to refer you so you can each get $25 (I'm doing that with friends heading down to W&L(</p>
<p>Also their free student checking is awesome, the people who work there are really nice and it is only two blocks from campus (right across from SunTrust), not to mention probably has a branch in your hometown as well.</p>
<p>I promise I do not nor have ever worked for them.</p>
<p>One matter of consideration might be that Wachovia is a larger national bank than SunTrust...</p>

<p>Well Wachovia is no more. Who knew? Maybe it'll be a Wells Fargo branch now.</p>
<p>I had that thought too. It's funny because I now live in Texas where Wells Fargo is dominant and I was so happy because Wachovia had opened up like 6 branches here in the last year or so. Now they're all going to be Wells Fargo anyway! </p>
<p>It's very sad for Charlotte & Winston though (I grew up in NC).</p>
