I was just wondering what banks you guys think are best for college students. I want to get one for college and am not sure which one I should go with.

Also, what do you guys think about credit cards. I know they're kind of dangerous, but I think they're necessary. In your experience, which credit cards work well for college students.

Thanks in advance!

The best bank for you would be the bank that has a lot of branches where you're going to college. Your location says New York City, so I assume you're from New York. I'm sure you know more than me that Citibank and Chase dominate in NYC. I go to NYU so I have Citibank and they treat me fairly well (no ridiculous fees, good money market rate).

Almost every bank has a college checking option. And as far as credit cards go, it's good to get one to build up your credit. But make sure you pay it off every month. I have American Express blue for students and I like it. But the caveat is that Amex cards are pretty hard to get. They denied me 3 times before they approved me.

if you're going to be responsible, the interest rates won't matter much to you since you'll pay off bills on time. if you aren't that will be a big factor. like said above, the banks around will be a big factor. chase has the most location in nyc. look for credit cards that have good rewards. citibank has the mtvU card. chase has a few too, i personally have the amazon student card. works great to get points on purchases and to get gift certificates. credit cards aren't dangerous. it's the people who use them that are. if you have doubts about being able to make payments accordingly, don't get one as you probably aren't ready yet and especially if you don't have a job.
