Is there any specific bank that Bing uses on campus that also has a presence on Long Island (or in the NYC area in general)? I'd like to get an account where I can withdraw money from the ATM without a charge, but where my mother can also deposit funds from home. Thanks in advance.

M&T Bank right on campus

M&T, HSBC, State Farm, Citizens Bank and then a lot of localized ones such as Partner’s Trust, Visions FCU…M&T though is probably most convenient, most popular non-local bank in the area.

What about Bank of America???

Thanks! I’ll try to find an M&T bank close to home.

The closest Bank of America is about 30 to 45 minutes away. So unless you want to bank online and pay a withdrawal fee every time…not exactly worth it.

… oh no… I also heard that people in Binghamton use Chase??? Is that true?

I’ve only seen/used Chase credit cards; not the actual bank. Heck, there is no Chase bank around here. Again, M&T is big if you want a national chain but other than that it is mostly local banks…they’re good too.

M&T has both an atm and a branch on campus – VERY convenient. there should be representatives at orientation to make opening an account easy. if you can’t find a branch near your home, your parents may be able to do electronic transfers from their bank to your M&T account – you can check with their bank if that’s possible and what needs to be done to set that up.
