Maybe some of the current Yalies can answer this question:

What is a good, national bank that is easily accessible from Yale? I need to get an account, and my parents want it to be national so they can sign up for an account at home and have free wire transfers. Any help would be appreciated!

You might want to wait until you get your residential college assignment. If you are assigned to Silliman or TD you probably want to use Chase/Bank One as it is closer to your housing. If you are on Old Campus you want Bank of America/Fleet as they have an ATM on Old Campus. There is also a Bank of America ATM in Machine City (the basement of Sterling/sort of attached to CCL).

Thanks for your response. I probably will hold off for a little while. After all, we do get college assignments on July 1st--it's not that far off.

I personally use Wachovia (corner of Church and Elm). My parents have an account with them, so I got free checking. While not as close by as Fleet/Bank of America, its location may be a good thing for the ol' pocketbook :).

Fleet/Bank of America has an ATM on Old Campus, which is where most freshmen will be living. Also, you can open an account online, if you don't currently live where there's a branch.
