Banning Backpacks

My school enforces the rule (I believe)

Because of the bomb threats in the 90's. We still get them once or twice a year, and then on the aniversery of Columbine the school is (from what I've heard, the aniverserary wile I've been is always on a weekend or a day off,) in near chaos, with a few lockdowns.

Also, even with the newest school split, it's still crowded.

I still hate the rule reardless. With a spread out campus, it gets annoying carrying things around and being near dropping them. I use my band locker more than my assignmed one because it's closer to my classes, but it's even out of the way.

Sigh... if someone really was psychotic enough to make a bomb and plan to detonate it, I don't think any deterrent so simple will discourage a bombing.

Just shows how short sighted a school can be.

If my car has a chance of being stolen should I not bother locking the doors?

No one uses lockers at my school. Be glad you don't have to carry around 25 pounds of books from class to class to class to...argggg.

Did I fail to mention we have laptops at school? Would that help my backpack campaigning case or hurt it?

hm..we aren't even allowed purses at our school.:(..let alone backpacks...

Laptops? In my school ipods and cellphones are constantly stolen. One girl's LUNCH even got stolen out of her locker.

It's a shame because a laptop would be useful.

Laptops are mandatory at my school, but I go to a small private school that has yet to have a major theft problem.
