How big is your backpack?

Mine is HUGE.It's so big, that it makes me tip over sometimes...no joke. I carry around 2 large textbooks, with ~7 notebooks, lots of folders and some smaller books. I don't bother to use my locker because it's inconvenient,I'm too lazy and it's too far away from my classes--like for example, my last class is on the bottom floor and my locker's on the top floor on the opposite side of the school. Sucks huh? Anyone else with a humongous backpack?

Yours sounds gross, haha... have you weighed yours? Mine topped out at about 15 lbs before my back gave out last year.

Now I keep mine as light as possible and it still hurts my back. grrr.

Carry less stuff in your backpack and more in your hands.

i just use the same backpack that i did in 1st grade. its tiny. i dont carry any text books and only recently(yesterday) got a binder, i keep one spiral bound notebook and keep notes for all of my subjects in that. i go through 1 every few weeks. no body uses lockers at my school.

depends.. i dont wear backpacks.. lol i know. i wear a purse bag but today i had to bring a big gym bag for soccer.. u know those ones to the side. that thing is HUGE

haha, my friend used to have a big bag for gymnastics, she could fit inside of it.

uh... not too much during school, but coming home...The most I have ever carried was:
-large APUSH textbook
-Large Biology textbook
-Medium Math textbook
-Medium Spanish textbook
-Band folder-XL
-4, 3-ringed binders
-2 Notebooks
-extra change of clothes (we have to dress up for presentations)
-Bag lunch

On top of that, I was dragging my ski bag... Like 9 feet long, and my boot bag.... which is about the size of a hockey goalies bag. Last year, my backpack snapped.

Well, I'm making an effort to use less space :)

I've not used my locker at all in the past 3.5 years, though luckily this year I haven't a many books to carry around (right now my typical load is maybe 2 big ones, 3-4 smaller ones, and some binders and whatnot). Sophomore year, however, I had around 3 large textbooks, a few smaller ones, and an enormous binder that I kept all of my notes in. Back then it weighed ~60 pounds on most days (I weighed it, haha), which was really annoying on those days that I had to wait a few hours after school ended because I hadn't a ride (or a license/car), so I had to lug the blasted thing a few miles to the nearest book store, best buy, movie theater, and einsten bagels.

My current backpack is cheap one I bought at office max after my old one broke from all those aforementioned strenuous loads, and it has a decent capacity and functions as a daypack on dayhikes. When I go backpacking I use my discount 85 liter internal frame ;]

mine weighs about 45 pounds on a average day, and with the extra books i have to bring home about 60 on the weekends (to procrastinate homework i have weighed it). Can you say back trouble in the future!!!??!!

my backpack is probably around 50 pounds too.

chiropractors are going to be sooo rich thanks to our generation. future back trouble indeed.

^LOL at DimitriMartin

I've had the same jansport backpack since third grade. no joke. It's massive and last year my back would hurt so bad from carrying it. This year I don't have as many textbooks. I HATE going to my locker because it's in the most inconvient place in the school, but we're not allowed to carry backpacks to class. Something to do with kids being able to conceal weapons in them I guess? ahaha

Some of you guys sound like the effies (first year 7th graders) at my school. Their bookbags are huge! I carry a small leather purse as a bag, so I can't really jam it full of stuff. I'm thinking about getting a Le Pliage tote that I can treat less delicately.

Mine weighs about 35lbs every day and I only use my locker for instrument storage. My backpack has weight ~35lbs for the past 4 years because I'm a masochist and take the heaviest course load possible (it has gotten to the point where my guidance counselor had to talk to my parents to make sure it was okay with them that I was taking as many courses as I wanted to).

...I already have back problems.

Depends on the day. When I only have one class its nice and light.

Yeah mine is rather large for my size, usually only two textbooks thought (AP Bio and Calc BC). And a lot of notebooks, although recently I have lightened my load since I have removed binders and instead use folders. I have one of those tote bags things so all the strain is on one arm. Yeah once I actually fell down tipping over on one side..quite embarrassing. Lifting it up from class is also quite strenuous. Its literally like those weightlifting competitions when you pick it up nearly pick it up again and then finally lift it above the floor...

We're not allowed to carry backpacks at my school (something about students potentially bringing guns to school), but I don't have to carry much because, since we can't carry backpaks, we've forced the school to have class sets of all the books so that we can keep ours at home.

I use my locker so its never really that heavy

I don't have a backpack. Just a big purse.
All I need are folders and spirals, and one textbook for math. We get stay-at-home texts b/c we have extra class sets if we ever need them. it weighs around 10 pounds, max.

I go to boarding school and can walk back to my room in between classes (5 min is enough to go from any classroom back to my room, grab some stuff and make it to the next class), so I usually only carry like one textbook and a notebook. I also rarely have more than two classes in a row and at most I have three classes in a row (and that's only once, and it's really two classes because I have a double science class because of lab). :)
