ok I don't get it. I payed my initialy payment for housing of $2000 something dollars, and I have to pay AGAIN for fall quarter? wth.

fall quarter tuition and housing are seperate.

thanks drastic, that cleared up A LOT. when is the deadline to pay for housing? i got an email saying october 1st... but i thought i saw somewhere that it has to be paid by september 19... or was that just for tuition?

I believe tuition is due on the 19th. If you have financial aid it's extended to the 26th.
UCLA Financial Aid Office - FALL FEE DEADLINE

Housing is due on the 1st, but you can pay up until the 10th with no late penalties. This is from the email reminder:

"We would like to remind you that your first “Quarterly” housing payment is due October 1, 2008. To submit your housing payment with a credit or debit card, please visit the MyHousing web site at UCLA Housing - MyHousing and select the "Housing Payments" link. To view your account balance, please visit the MyHousing web site and select the "View Housing Account" link. Please note that your quarterly billing charges have been posted to your account on September 16, 2008. Please be aware that you will be assessed a $25 late fee if you have an outstanding balance after October 10, 2008."

ahhhhhhh so if we have financial aid, and havn't receied it, we should pay whatever minus the amount of money we receive.

Anyone else ****ed with the Financial Aid office? I've been trying to get a hold of them yesterday for hours and when I called the number, all I heard was the busy signal. Today, I've been on hold for more than 30 minutes -.-.. I don't know about you guys but they should really simplify/fix the BAR charges/refunds statement because yesterday mine showed -$xxxx and today it is showing $0.00. !%%#@%$ga

what sucks is that housing and tuition are separate. powers that be need to get more organized.

question though: so they just disbursed the $$$. how long does it usually take for the housing $ part to be transferred into your bank acct so you can pay housing?

^ Jolius, I just got an email today notifying me that BruinDirect will deposit the remaining financial aid money into my bank account three days after the notice.

Calm the hell down and use your ****ing head!

Yesterday it showed -$2xxx because that was how much you owed, and you hadn't paid it yet. (That is, the financial aid didn't go through the BAR yet.)

Today it shows 0.00 because it went through and now you pay 0.00. WHICH MEANS YOU'RE SET. (And now you worry having enough to pay for housing.)

Jesus Christ! I know it's stressful, but you don't have to give yourself hemorrhoids worrying about this.

I remember seeing all the charges before, but I can't seem to find them now. How can I view the various charges and fees for this month?

^i think it's listed on the august 2008 billing month

uhhh no maybe you're the one who should use your head. the "-" sign means thats the amount of money I'm owed after tuition is taken care of, NOT the amount I should pay. So please stop making a dumb**** out of yourself and think before you post. If you were in my situation with a week before school starts and no refunds in your checking account, coupled with a useless customer service system, you would be pretty angry too.

chill the ****! out!

you think I don't have **** to worry about to? They received my housing adjustment form for the summer and mistakenly altered my housing for the academic year, they're demanding more information for a loan personal data form, etc etc

be cool, dude. I'm sure the FAO people have tons of calls to handle, tons of incoming freshman confused with **** to handle.

you stop making yourself look like an ******* by calling other people names who are only trying to help.

Automath: I, too am extremely confused with this crap! You have the right to be upset. They DO NOT explain it in detail at all. If I didn't have CC to explain most of it I would be really losing it at this point. I took my son to move in yesterday (MIA) and I can tell you that going there in person didn't really help either! FA office kept sending me to 'housing' to answer my questions and 'housing' sent me back to FA. Three times! They are totally screwed up! Here I am back at CC trying to get some clarity. Oh and btw, they are busy over there with MIA's and priority (athletes, etc...) move ins. Good luck. :(

oh boy I just can't wait till week 3 when they start disbursing the SMART grants and the same crap starts all over again
