Ok something weird is going on with my BAR account:

On Dec. 13, I got charged $84, which I payed. On Dec. 17, I got charged $84 again, which I of course payed. Today, Dec. 21, I checked URSA at 6pm and found another $84 charge, and I payed again.

Now, I checked URSA again at 11:50pm, and found another $84 charge! (and payed again)

The account history shows my past payments this month, but what I noticed is that everytime I get charged $84, my "estimated fin. aid" keeps getting lower and lower in increments of $84.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else or is it just me? Btw I already emailed Student Financial Services about it, and all I got was an automated response with FAQ links, which didnt help.

Yes! That happened to me last year sometime. I called up the people in Murphy to ask why I'm being charged again and they said that I wasn't and that it was only one charge (the original $84 that you had paid) and not to worry about paying it again if it says that there's another charge. I'm not sure why it does that but it does and its definitely annoying.

my question is why am i being charged? (i owe $84 too). it seems like my fin aid was $1710.33 but they only gave me $1626.33. did they just gyp me $84?

i paid it on the 19th and my balance was $0. now its $84 with no new charges.

yea that happens to me sometimes too. i dunno why, BAR must be messed up. anyway, when i overpay, they just refund me, so no worries. the first time you see your required payment, that's usually the correct one. i still don't know why it does that though, it's really weird. they must think that because you were able to pay $84, that means you need $84 less in financial aid or whatever. o well. again, if you overpay thinking that you're paying regularly, you'll get refunded.

Don't worry too much about it. I discovered that that owned over $4700. So I went and asked where all these random fee's came from, and was informed that BAR was having problems.

I would guess that those fees are the "learning enhancment fees" or whatever they are called. They are the per unit fees that get tacked on at the end of the quarter. A buddy of mine said they were for social science classes only, but I don't really know.

Also, yes, I had a problem similar to what passerby had, except I only paid the fees once because I knew it wasn't right.

One more thing, when does finanical aid pay the bar account? Because mine still hasn't.

Something I forgot to ask you guys: if BAR "mistakenly" shows the $84 charge on Jan. 6 (drop deadline), will UCLA automatically drop my classes? Bcuz this time I'm just gonna let that $84 charge stay there.

I called the school last week when it happened on my daughter's account. The nice lady on the phone said not to worry about it, that it would straighten out on the third when the financial aid money is released.

My charge is $90 and it's already been paid like three times, but it's up again. I hope they refund my money! And it would really suck to get dropped from my classes!!!
