<p>agreed. lobbying has been a part of democracy....of course people are going to vote for people who will accomplish their goals.</p>
<p>for example, a school teacher who wants more education budget usually votes for someone to raise school taxes; while others want lower taxes, etc...it's all about what you want. Why is it wrong?</p>
<p>It is at this juncture where the split between Republicans and Democrats is seen most clearly. </p>
<p>Typically, Democrats wish for more government control over the welfare (????) of the people, while Republicans are more "laissez faire," or "let the individual states/people handle the politics." While this is a generalization and is not 100% correct all the time, it generally holds true. </p>
<p>Barack Obama, as a Democrat, seems to want to put more power in the government's hands. Think about it: all the way from social welfare to the elimination of lobbying, the individual states and the people in them are going to have less and less power, while the national government gains more and more if Obama becomes president. </p>
