I’ve read everything here regliously!! (Though I’m not really religious) haha but please check this out for me! I wish to meet all of you next year, and fingers crossed!!!

hmmm received no email yet
but someone said they had called the admissions office!
anyone recently checked?
other colleges have sent out emails for students to check at a specific date and time. But I guess barnard does snail mail as well so thats probably why!

Hey Francesca, Barnard replied by saying again it should be sent by the week’s end. Do you want to try emailing as well? haha
ahhh I really want a reply now.

I think ur GPA and letter of Rec from Pratt! really help your chances! wow seems like you have done a lot. but in the end it lies in fate. sometimes college decision making can be weird.

Thanks so much for your opinion! And I would really appreciate any others too. :)

I’m a little surprised they are not being sent today. Maybe the letters were/are, just not the decision emails for those of you who are applying from overseas.

Ahh, so much posting happened while I was asleep!

@noloserhere: That article was really interesting…the guy really makes a valid point. I don’t know, in general, I think it’s okay to post acceptances on Facebook, especially if you’re definitely going to that school. However, it depends on how you do it. For example, if someone you know got rejected, you don’t post it. And I think it needs to be kept to a simple status rather than multiple statuses, wallposts, etc. You just need to make sure you do it with good taste - at least I think so.

@newyorkmydreams: I am from California…what about you? I hope we end up at the same school as well! Haha, when you first started posting, you reminded me of me with the “I love New York” posts.

@StillEnergy7: I read your “Chance Me” post…it seems to me like you have a pretty good shot. On another note, that’s really cool that you know ASL! I had to learn some ASL for a play that I did my sophomore year and it was a really neat experience :)

@everyone talking about the admissions Facebook page: I didn’t know they had an admissions Facebook page…I like the college, but not the admissions page. That’s really funny that all the girls commenting have Barnard in their profile picture. In regards to having a “clean” Facebook page, I don’t have anything bad on mine. It’s not like I’m standing in front of Barnard in my profile picture (although I do have some pictures of my summer college tour), but I just think it’s a bad idea to post that kind of stuff on Facebook. My school is very small and the administration has gotten people in trouble for what they put on Facebook in the past. It just isn’t very smart, in my opinion.

I’m curious about what you mentioned about your school administrators. How did they get in trouble and as a high school, for what purpose did the utilize facebook?

I’m finding out who some of the people on this thread are (from NYC) and from process of deduction and feeling iffy about this entire thing now.

Tomorrow, when I get home from school, I hope that I’ll find something sitting ontop of my mailbox :(

Hey do any of you guys know how priority mail is actually delivered? I don’t. Please enlighten me.

Ok, so I just called the admissions office and they said that they did in fact send some of the finished applications today, and they will send the rest tomorrow!!!

@nolosehere, priority mail is sent to its destination in 2 days (incl Saturday), and should arrive NOT part of your regular mail collection. (please chance me if you get the chance, it calms my nerves as we are all anxiously eyeing our mailboxes!!)

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION: If it isn’t sent with regular mail, how IS it sent? It is another USPS guy? Do they make you sign for the envelope? Do they just leave it at the door? Because I live in an apartment building in which the mailboxes are inside… the postguy has the keys to get inside… but I dont want my stuff left outside and I also don’t want to have to go pick it up at the post office if no one is home to receive the door bell. Do they deliver to your door and need a signature, or do they just deliver it and leave it? Sorry about all the questions… Also, does it usually come LATER or earlier? How later/earlier? My normal mail usually comes around 1PM… Whats a normal time for priority mail to arrive? Whats an abnormal time (E.g. Should I not expect something at 5 PM?)

@medrix. that makes me sad. they only sent out HALF?!!!
why half?!
i hope they didn’t send out the west-coast decisions out first to compensate for time difference of between east coasters… that would mean i won’t get it tomorrow but i did send in my application super super super ultra early… i hope that means that they got my decisions done with early.

Also, do you think they read applications in order of when they were recieved? Or do they read applications by section–like all the applications from one school side by side?

@StillEnergy7. Like I said about 50 bazillion times on this thread, i live in NYC. But I’m not a rich kid and I haven’t been to any Broadway shows or anything, so I’m not that exciting.

ill chance you right here: I think you have higher than a 50/50 chance. Your GPA is very good, but your ACT is below average (I think average is 31). So i think its 50/50 or maybe 60/40 because Barnard cares more about GPA. (Sigh. If it makes you feel better my chances are like a 20/80 because my GPA sucks and my SATs are just only a bit above average. Nevertheless I’m counting on my essays to really push me through).
