Aren’t people forgetting the possibility of deferral to RD? Or does Barnard really give all ED applicants a definitive yes or no right away?

@AmbitiousBetty: I’m probably about to make a fool of myself, but is independent school the same as private school? I’m a mere public school plebeian, I don’t know much about the special school lingo.

@notakid, not forgetting that but I definitely won’t get in regular decision.

@jrm927, “The subtle distinction between a private and an independent school has to do with the legal structure of each. An independent school has a truly independent board of governors or trustees. A private school can theoretically be part of another entity such as a for profit corporation or a not for profit organization such as a church or synagogue”.

Did anyone get this message when they typed in their code? “Admissions Decisions were mailed on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. We have no online notification process, only “snail” mail responses. For students living overseas, we also email decisions on the day following our mailing date, given that mail can often take longer to be received in faraway places. Early decision notifications are intended to be received by the end of the week.”

@incurable, no. I was taken to a page that congratulated fall 2012 accepted applicants & was asked to confirm my enrollment and to make my $400 deposit by the date stated in the package they sent. My full name and email were both on this page. Unfortunately I have not received this “snail mail” yet lol.

@incurable I just checked this page again and it is still the same as stated.

@Ambitiousbetty Thanks for gloating. Sucks for me, I guess I was rejected.

That’s the message that mammia44 and I were talking about.

That message probably doesn’t automatically mean that you’re rejected. They said the site wil work when your letter comes, so maybe they just haven’t updated your account!

Mine works, but I’ not taking that as a confirmation of acceptance. I believe it when I see it (in the mail)

And that’s why I was asking people who HADN’T tried it before…

@incurable, I sincerely apologize if it seems as though I was gloating. I wasn’t trying to make you feel bad at all. I was simply explaining my experience in detail to prevent you from having to ask any follow up questions. You may just be deferred! Don’t stress yourself out… even though this is easier said than done because I would be upset too :(

@treehugga, I’m on the same page as you! Unfortunately, I told a friend at school who then proceeded to tell EVERYONE so they think I’ve officially gotten in smh.

Just had a big cry session. God, I am so freakin’ sad right now. Wow I suck at life. Anyways I’m glad for the people who got into Barnard, I’m sure you’ll all go far in life.

i’m not checking the website… i’m just going to wait for whichever letter comes. just in case something is up with the website and it is glitchy, i want to know the real official hundred percent accurate decision first.

Can someone please check the application tracking site. After the “Early Decision Signature (if applicable)” is there a date next to yours!!!

lalalajj, you are a stronger woman than I could ever hope to be. I salute you.

oh my god i can’t tell you my fingers are twitching but i just CAN’T DO IT

StillEnergy7, there is a date next to the ED signature on the tracking website for me. Did you call admissions and ask if they had received it? It is possible that they never got it and put you in the RD pool, but it’s also possible (and probably more likely) that they did receive it and just didn’t update the tracking website.

So what were the possible messages you could have received from the tracking code?
